The best part of Kyoto is actually an hour outside of the city. Keihoku aka hidden Kyoto is the second largest town of the Kyoto region. This gorgeous, non-touristy countryside is home to jaw-dropping cedar forests, awe-inspiring temples, breathtaking hiking trails, a pristine waterfall, postcard-worthy rice paddies, impressive artisan wood shops and welcoming locals. Best way to explore is on an e-bike with ROOTS. Most Kyoto tourists stick to the city tourist attractions, but do yourself a favor and put this on your #Japanbucketlist!![]()

I did in Tokyo and loved it! It’s the most interesting budget-friendly twist on a hostel-like experience I’ve ever seen for under $40/night. So what’s this #traveladventure like? Your room will look and feel like you’re sleeping in a coffin at a morgue... 💀 but it’s got everything you need - a comfortable bed, fan, tv and wifi - and actually is comfortable. There are shared bathroom spaces including an indoor onsen spa and heated toilets with bidets. 🚽 There’s lounge areas with free food, drinks and booze throughout the day. Plus, there’s a prison-like uniform making you wonder if you’ve entered the Squid Games. Sleeping in a capsule hotel is a Tokyo #bucketlisttrip right of passage!
